FARM STAND MANAGER
Hutchins Farm is seeking a motivated, creative, organized person to take a leadership role in managing our farm stand. We hope to maintain a fresh, diverse and profitable retail environment that is in conformity with our overall mission and philosophy.
This person might be responsible for: product display and merchandising, promotions, pricing and signage, point of purchase information, sampling, scheduling and supervising sales help, special events, etc.
The stand will be open from about mid-May through the end of October, although the farm stand manager might begin work several weeks before the stand opens to help with greenhouse chores and familiarize him/herself with the product and sales space.
Compensation will be based on the level of responsibility assumed by the manager and on any pertinent experience. Pay increase and/or bonus might occur during the season, based on the performance of the individual and the farm as a whole.
FIELD CREW
Hutchins Farm is seeking people with an interest in farming, gardening, food, or just working outside to work in our production fields this summer. Some help will be needed as early as April, but most hands will be needed from early June through early October—individuals who can stay for three months or more will be given preference.
The work will vary, but will include: planting, weeding, harvesting, washing, and packing a wide variety of vegetables and small fruit. Workers may also be involved in greenhouse work, grounds maintenance, sales, irrigation, or other aspects of the operation based on the farm’s needs and the worker’s inclination.
Workers will be expected to work 5 or 5 ½ days per week, 9-10 hours per day. Hourly pay begins at $8/hour with the potential for increases for longer term workers based on their performance and the overall performance of the farm.
